Why is Catrix cat scratching furniture important to your cat? |
||
Your cat's paws also have scent glands that leave their own special scent on their territory. The scratching furniture at home becomes your cat’s own space which she often returns to. It is important for your cat to have their own space in the house. Cat scratching furniture can also provide for your cat’s other needs, like climbing, resting and playing. Scratching furniture can keep your cat from getting bored, keep her in shape and provide her with a suitable resting area. If you teach your cat to use her scratching furniture she won’t scratch and damage your home interior anymore.
The position of the cat scratching furniture should be taken into account, when training your cat. Scratching furniture should be positioned near to places where your cat spends most of her time, for example where they sleep or eat. Upon awakening, or after a nice meal, your cat likes to stretch out and to dig her claws into a scratching post. If you see your cat scratching your home interior tell her NO in a firm voice, then gently pick her up and take her to the scratching furniture. You can help her by placing her paws on the furniture, stimulate scratching and let her mark her territory. This way she is likely to return to the scratching furniture by herself. Like most training, the earlier you start, the better. | ||
